OpenMW-Web v1.6.2
Released October 19, 2026
New areas load without stalls. Since mid-October the game files a server hosts were never kept in the browser’s cache or pre-loaded in the background, so every new place you walked into waited on a download (a freeze of up to a second at a time, longer on mobile connections), and coming back the next day downloaded it all again. They are cached and pre-loaded again.
A refused invite says where to get one. On an invite-only server, a sign-in without an
invite now shows the server’s “where to get an invite” link (set with [login].inviteHelpUrl;
off unless you set it) instead of only “ask whoever runs it”.
Play Morrowind in your browser. Prebuilt WebAssembly engine - unzip the web bundle, run python3 server.py, open desktop Chrome. See SELF_HOSTING.md.
openmw-web-*.zip- grab-and-go: prebuilt engine + web shell + free demo worldopenmw-web-src-*.tar.gz- the exact source snapshot (GPLv3 Corresponding Source)
